Adding lighting to a truck is easy to do badly. Cheap harnesses, tape splices, a relay zip-tied to a brake line, switches stuck to the dash with foam tape. It works until it does not, usually in the rain. When we do off-road lighting in Edmond, the wiring is the job.
We run proper gauge wire, fuse everything at the battery, use weatherproof connectors, and mount a real switch panel like an sPOD or Switch-Pros so every light has its own labeled control and the whole system can be shut off cleanly. Grounds go to bare metal, harnesses are loomed and secured, and nothing crosses a hot or moving part.
Placement matters as much as the parts. A light bar behind the grille, ditch lights off the hood hinges, pods on the bumper, rock lights under the body, and flush backup lights in the bumper each do a different job. We will lay out a setup that actually covers the ground instead of just looking loud.
